Chair's message for February---updated--- PDF Print E-mail

Happy February all, as a quick note that we are going to have Dr. James Alloway who is affiliated with Forrest Breyfogle and Smarter Solutions. The following is from Jim -
Design for Six Sigma is one of the three principle components of a
comprehensive Six Sigma deployment.  It offers a more rigorous approach
to product, process, and service design than the traditional Build,
Test, Fix paradigm used by many engineers.   This benefit comes at a
cost, so contrary to the aspirations of many new Six Sigma
practitioners, not every project qualifies for the DFSS route

This presentation takes a high level view of the DMADV methodology for
DFSS, briefly highlighting tools typically used in each phase.  Like the
DMAIC improvement methodology, DMADV borrows heavily from a wealth of
existing design and creativity tools.  The pivotal role of DOE is
explored in greater depth.  The session ends by illustrating how Process
Management and Product Management must be linked together to permit the
organization to fulfill its objectives.

As some of you might know we did want to have a seminar on the same subject but with the state of the economy we decided to postpone the event until later this year. This will be with Jay Patel and the North East Quality Council.

I would like to thank Aaron Snyder for the presentation last night and to those who attended our meeting. We had a very good turnout last night and in light of the current state of the economy are certainly encouraging.

A special notice from the Section Affairs Council and the Board of Directors of ASQ:
