July's Chair message PDF Print E-mail

Happy July all!

First I want to congratulate our winner this year Charlie Dionne as the Hartford Section’s Quality Person of the Year for 2007/2008.
The next item I would like to address in this month’s message is that the Hartford Section’s Executive Committee will be meeting twice over the summer month’s inorder to put together this year’s program and Quality Management Plan or QMP. Last year was the last year for the Section Management Plan or SMP.  The Section did quite well as far as hitting our targets for this year. The one and only piece missed was getting Ida Gall’s paperwork in for ASQ Fellow nomination in to Headquarters. I am very pleased to announce that Dennis Gareau’s paperwork has been submitted to Headquarters for consideration.  The process was a bit more challenging than we thought and that next year the Nominating committee will be concentrating on getting Ida’s done and in for next July.  However, if anyone else meets the requirements and want to be submitted to headquarters we will do what we can as a section to facilitate the process.
Also I would like to remind the members at large that we are always looking for new member leader volunteers  I f anyone wants to join the team, please let me know via email that you want to and we will add you to the team. We always have room for more members on the Executive Committee.
I am very pleased to announce that Headquarters has updated the link our new website. I have checked this out myself as I had heard from members that it wasn’t updated yet. Kim Olsen, our Community Care representative spent some time to get the tasked accomplished and with some help from Roger Keller our Region 1 Director, made the right connections to make this happen.
The last item I want to discuss with the membership is the North East Quality Conference in October in Marlboro Massachusetts. This event is one of the biggest quality conferences in our area. If you register early and bring five or more people to the event, the discounts do accumulate. This can make this conference one of the most financially viable event s to attend. Room rates are also very reasonable and the facility is top notch. I have already signed up to attend this event and I do hope to see many of our members there during the conference as well. ASQ conferences are great for networking with other quality professionals as well as gaining new knowledge to bring back home with you. The Hartford Section is very proud of our membership of the North East Quality Council and also as a founding member section of NEQC. The Hartford Section is committed to continuing in its support for NEQC.
Now I want to wish everyone a safe and happy summer!!
I look forward to next year and seeing all of you at our next meeting
