Welcome back all! I would like to start by thanking Lars Gacad for his presentation on Thursday September 11th on Strategic Quality Planning. Lars did a great job on discussing his take on the subject. Our next meeting will be on October 9th and it will be on RoHS and WEEE Compliance. This for those who might not be in the know is Restriction of Hazardous Substances and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment. We will bring having a speaker from Intechra Corp and we have to thank our Executive team member Dr. Ron Blank for this presentation. Being Green and recycling is everyone’s responsibility and this will tell us all how to be in-compliance with the new Green rules. Also, I would like to mention to the Executive committe and those who might want to join the Executive committee that the October meeting will be on Thursday the 16th. I would like to mention to the Executive committee and those who might want to join the Executive committee that the October meeting will be on Thursday the 16th. As I will and I hope others will join me at the NEQC conference on 14th and 15th of October. Preconference Seminars will be held on the 13th and Post conference Seminars will be held on the 16th and 17th. This will be held at the Best Western Royal Plaza Hotel and Trade Center in Marlborough, Massachusetts. Please check our links for more information. Our old friend Forrest Breyfogle III will be there as one of the keynote speakers and presenters. So if you missed him last year and want to hear what Forrest has to say, this would be a great time to hear his point of view. I was just at a North East Quality Council meeting and training seminar for member leaders this Friday September 12th. I was surprised that more people haven’t signed up for this conference. It will be two years before the next event. Please don’t hesitate to sign up for this event. Next, I would like to ask the membership for feedback on what you as the members would like to see made better or to be added to our section as to increae member value. I did hear that the dues are going up, just like the meeting and dinner expenses have risen so have the cost of running the Society. What I want to know is what we here in Hartford can do to “Make Good, Great” January there will be surveys from the Section Affairs Council and Headquarters on how we did last year meeting or exceeding the member’s expectation. Whether it is in education, meetings or anything that we have missed to meet your needs as a member of ASQ and the Hartford Section, the executive committee want s to know. We need your feedback. It is your Section, we administer it, and however, we need to know what you want from us and from ASQ Headquarters. I would like to know what Training and Educational offering s we should be presenting and the Section is not. There is a whole new Education and Training Initiative that has been rolled out. We as a Section now have a whole lot more resources to pull from to meet our member’s educational needs. The Executive Committee needs to know what to bring in and what not to bring to the Section. The Section’s offerings seem to be missing the mark and I would like to fix that, if we can. The last point for this month is more of a reminder. I have been receiving some feedback on the new website, some things seem to be harder and others easier. Monthly meetings and signing up seems to be an issue. The first Poka-yoke is that we always take walk-ins. If you arrive before dinner which is served at 6:00 PM, Tony’s staff will try to accommodate anyone who shows up. The other issue is the dates that Acteva lists. The bold dates are the dates of sale- why it is so bold I haven’t a clue. Our meeting is set for the 2nd Thursday of the month unless we are doing something special. The Post Card and email we send out state the date. So please ignore the dates in bold. I will try starting with the October meeting to leave a bold link for signing up for our meetings to make it easier to find.
