POSITION:  Quality Manager

REPORTS TO:  Director of Operations/General Manager

COMPANY: Growing international fabricator/manufacturer and provider of services to the electronic materials industry with applications in PVD products and packaging materials.

LOCATION:  Southeastern New York State

SUMMARY:   As a key member of the management team, maintain active involvement in all aspects of the management of the Quality System and Quality Improvement Plan with the aim to meet or exceed agreed quality targets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide the overall vision for the Quality Management System and direct all aspects of the Quality organization.
• Drive continuous improvement processes utilizing Six Sigma & Lean techniques. 
• Maintain, report and develop goals with clearly defined action plans to improve key metrics (Cost of Quality, Customer Complaint metrics, Yield) that increase organizational effectiveness and reduces cycle time.
• Develop programs to provide training in quality technologies and methodologies (DOE, FMEA, SPC, process mapping, problem solving, facilitator training, team building, etc).
• Drive process quality improvements through the implementation of automated process controls, sampling systems, enhanced manufacturing procedures and utilization of statistical techniques. 
• Function as the customer advocate in the introduction of new products and development of mutual expectations for ISO9000 Design Control and customer needs mapping.
• Maintain and promote the use of the ISO9000 Quality System and/or any other customer required certification.  Keep the company up to date in regards to the Quality System and any required improvements.
• Act as Primary Management Representative for ISO9000.
• Develop problem solving processes (8D, 5 Why, 7D, etc) for all corrective actions – critical for all customer complaints.
• Implement methods that sustain continuous improvement efforts such as 5S & Six Sigma.
• Develop and maintain a Supplier Quality system that ensures specifications are in place, complete supplier quality audits, manage supplier change requests and initiate Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR).
• Perform periodic internal audits of the quality management system.  Develop action plans to address findings.  Coordinate external quality system audits.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have 8-10 years of manufacturing and quality control/quality system and/or TQM experience showing progression with at least five years of supervisory experience.  Quality Management experience is preferred.
• Familiarity with  Lean and/or Six Sigma, management of Six Sigma practitioners, or two to three years of Continuous Improvement experience .
• Bachelors degree in a technical discipline, such as Materials Science/Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering..
• Prefer experience and knowledge of manufacturing systems, the quality function and technical products.  Further experience with calibration, metrology and quality system auditing will be beneficial.
• Prior experience with ISO9000 requirements and certifications (may substitute TS16949 or AS9100).
• Travel to business units, customers, and vendors approximately 10-20%.
